The Weekend
by Michael Palin

Tuesday 27th April - Saturday 1st May 2010
Tuesday 4th May - Saturday 8th May 2010

Performances start 19:45

Rural Suffolk has its attractions for Stephen Febble.  Here he can live out a retirement of splendid isolation, largely pleasing himself - only other people have a habit of impinging on paradise.

What about the rest of the family who will insist on descending at the weekend, complete with their troublesome dog?  What if your best friend isn’t being honest with you about plans for major roads through your peaceful idyll?  Is your friend’s wife being led astray - by the feet? And what if your nerdish son-in-law is a lothario in disguise?

Written as a vehicle for Richard Wilson, Michael Palin’s West End comedy hit charts the course of a tempestuous family weekend. It is a wry portrait of family life, with surrealist flashes, which manages to encompass pathos as well as laughter, a communist cleaning lady, a society chiropodist and (briefly) the voice of God.

Tom Haddon makes a swift return to the stage as the irascible Stephen Febble, whilst Tina Remmer plays his beleaguered but unbowed wife Virginia.

A stellar cast has been assembled for your delight, including: Robert Gregory, Joanna Sait, Gary Heron, Sue Sherwin, David Burton, Chris White and introducing Rebecca Inman as Charlotte.
