David Copperfield is the story of a young boy on a hero's journey, the story of a young man who must learn to overcome tragedy and trust that real love and happiness may yet be his.
David's widowed mother remarries and his wicked stepfather sends him to a terrible boarding school. Later, he is forced into hard factory work. But, against all odds, David rises above his circumstances. True friends, comic misadventures, poignant losses and encounters with one of Dickens's most famous villains await David as he grows up.
This new adaptation, written especially for the Archway Theatre, brings to life this wonderful story in true epic fashion. We have assembled a huge cast (some familiar faces, some new) who between them play nearly 60 speaking roles: the steadfast David, the dastardly Uriah Heep, the dashing Steerforth, the evil Murdstones, the warm hearted Peggotys, the irrepressible Wilkins Micawber and many, many more. So settle down for an evening of Dickensian indulgence and surrender to the world of David Copperfield.
