Right now I feel like I ve won some sort of prestigious award. Not only
am I directing my all time favourite pantomime, but I also have the
most amazing cast and crew, who are full of life, vitality, dedication and
enthusiasm.
Cinderella is a truly traditional pantomime full of magic and wonder. It contains all the usual ingredients of men dressing as women and women
dressing as men; fishnet tights here we come!! I m delighted to be
working with Phil Boorer (Musical Director) and using a varied array of
past and present hits. There is absolutely no way you will be able to
stop your toes from tapping and I m sure you will be singing along too.
Although a traditional pantomime, many of the characters are
unexpected. Why is Miss Muffet (Debra Cornell) running the local inn?
Did the Bear (Lucy Pigeon) get lost in the woods after a picnic? And just
who are Rag (Laura Martin), Tag (Natalie Pimm) and Bobtail (Ross
Cornell) trying to be?
In true Cinderella style, the Ugly Sisters (Andrew Cornell and Kevin
Hawkes) make the life of their step-sister Cinderella (Erin Cornell) very
difficult. Looking out for her is the Baron s (Andy Pimm) servant Buttons (Tom Robinson) who is secretly
or not so secretly in love with her.
The King (Ron Covey) orders his son the Prince (Hannah Redfern) to find himself a bride. His Valet
Dandini (Gwyneth Boorer) helps him to organise a Royal Ball to find his true love. After the Ugly Sisters
destroy her invitation it looks highly likely Cinderella will spend the evening at home with Buttons. Is
there anyone who can save the day? Dobbin the Horse (Rachel Bound and Simon Inman) could come to
the rescue or maybe someone with truly magical powers AKA The Fairy Godmother (Mandi Dunford) will
shine through.
This is the first time I ve directed in twelve years and is a huge opportunity which I m thoroughly
enjoying. It also holds many sentimental memories for me, as my dad (David White) directed this
production back in 1988 and gave me my first Stage Manager s role. It was again on the Archway stage
in 2000, so ten years on I am delighted to be bringing it back. I am thrilled to have my sister (Elizabeth
White) as my Stage Manager. Please join us to see my Cinderella dream become a reality.
