Barry (Gary Heron) and Gen (Jan Sparkes) are a suburban
couple, who we discover in bed about to celebrate their 21st
Wedding Anniversary.
Theirs is a life filled with the usual worries: (nearly) grownup
kids, finances, elderly parents. Add in the insecurities we
all have about growing older, together with the shifting
power-balances of a long-term marriage - who’s the bread
winner now?? What’s happened to fidelity?? - and you have a
wry, funny, truthful play which combines the laughs with
some points of connection for all of us.
This play was the source material for the successful sitcom starring Michael Williams and Gwen Taylor.
