Written by the actress Imogen Stubbs, the play follows a group of women as they try to start a travelling theatre company during World War Two, intending to return a little culture to war-torn Britain. Described by the Evening Standard as a "fictitious documentary revue" the play follows the fortunes of the seven cast members, rewarding the audience with "poignant and amusing flashes" as the women struggle with the realities of the home front.
