Those of you who saw the Archway
production of three of the Alan Bennett
Talking Heads monologues in 2000 will
remember his marvellous observant
and amusing character studies. We
now bring you the other three in the
series of six. These were presented on
television by Thora Hird, Stephanie Cole
and Patricia Routledge. All are
touchingly real, all have moments of
heart-rending pathos, but all are also
very funny. We recognise our relations,
our neighbours – and dare we say it – ourselves!
In our production Yvonne Lee plays
Doris in A Cream Cracker Under the
Settee, Carol Hall plays Muriel in Soldiering On, and Margaret Morris
plays Irene in A Lady of Letters.
