Victor Hugo's Les Miserables
Adapted by Gary Andrews
In the mid 1980s I went to see a musical that blew me away. Nearly 20 years later it is still going strong in the West End... "Les Miserables". After a few visits, I decided to read the book and was taken back at just how much had been left out of the show.
The novel of "Les Miserables" is one of the most popular ever written. It has been made into numerous films, both in French and English, as well as recently being adapted for radio by the BBC. It is a huge, sprawling book with a cast of thousands and yet its core is a simple story of love and redemption.
This adaptionhas been a labour of love for me, and I am very proud to have a cast, who have been working so hard to bring it to life, that ranges from founder members to junior associates. They are led by Jim Pluck as Jean Valjean (very different to his last appearance as Nurse Nora in Panto) and Chris Butler as his Nemesis, Inspector Javert.
So come along and witness the higs and lows, laughter and tears that make up Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables"... and bring your tissues, you'll need them!!
