The Leenane Trilogy
by Martin McDonaugh

The Archway Theatre Company, never afraid to face a challenge, is proud to be presenting this Trilogy - the lives of the people of Connemara through the perceptive observations of Martin McDonagh. McDonagh’s greatest strength as a playwright is that he combines traditional storytelling with the savage ironic humour of today’s cinema-raised generation. His plays include “The Cripple of Inishmaan” already performed at the Archway and “The Lieutenant of Inishmore” currently featuring in the RSC programme at the Barbican. The outpouring of international award-winning plays over the last decade by this fresh dramatic voice gives his audiences an Ireland that is not stereotypical. McDonagh’s people are viewed more through the lens of Quentin Tarantino than through the bottom of a pint of Guinness and most of the joy in his plays comes from the many twists, which are by turn, hilarious and shocking but above all, unforgettable.
