Henceforward
by Alan Ayckbourn

Alan Ayckbourn is a prolific playwright and what better way to end our 'Best of British' year than with one of his plays - Henceforward.

Ayckbourn has the knack of bringing the characters with which we can all identify to the extreme, and Henceforward is no exception. Set sometime in the future, in a studio flat in North London, Jerome, played by Tony White, is a musician lost of inspiration since his wife Corrina, played by Debora Parkinson, and daughter Geain, played by Lucy Brennan, have left him.

Jerome has to convince Corrina and the child welfare officer Mervyn Bickerdyke, played by Steve Bonnett, that he is suitable for them to allow Geain back to stay and visit.

An out-of-work actress, Zoe Mill, played by the latest talent to tread the boards at the Archway - Karen Shepherd, is hired to help Jerome to set the scene of a loving homely appearance. Unfortunately things to wrong as only Ayckbourn plays can and with the help of Nan, a humanoid robot, the play reaches its natural conclusion.

So, come down to the Archway and spend one of the last evenings of this millennium year in the company of my talented cast and then Henceforward into the 21st Century.
